Students, Mentees, and Mentors

Pay It Forward: Members Sought For Our Professional Development and Intentional Career Path Programs

The Western Chapter’s Professional Development and Intentional Career Path (ICP) programs invite members to sign up for our 2023–24 mentoring program. You can use your experience to guide early- to mid-career professionals and/or college students to success.
To sign up as a mentor, please begin by completing the form below, which will help us match you with one or more appropriate mentees.
The Western Chapter’s mentorship program goal is simple: to share insight. We match proposal professionals with students and other proposal professionals at different levels of experience. For a mentee, a mentorship is a huge boost to achieving your goals. Learn from someone who’s been there and who can guide you on the path to success in proposal management. For a mentor, the relationship is a great way to spread the knowledge and experience you’ve gained within the chapter. Be the mentor you never had!

Student Mentorship With ICP

ICP is structured as a 6-month program in which we introduce students to APMP and the many career paths that business development can offer. Mentors and mentees meet individually and, occasionally, as a group. The program has resources and milestones, but is intended to respond to each student’s individual interests. Participants should be positioned by the spring for internships and other professional development opportunities.

Professional Mentorship

Professional mentorship is more fluid, with participants defining their goals and outcomes. We strive to match based on region, industry, job function and goals, but our differences are our strengths too. The professional mentorship program is a great place to cross-pollinate ideas over the course of a yearlong program. And many mentors and mentees wind up with valuable relationships that last much longer, sharing experience and swapping stories that strengthen our growth in the wide world of proposals. Each partnership meets monthly to discuss goals, best practices, and share industry knowledge. To join, you must be:

  • An active APMP Western Chapter member (all mentors and professional mentees)
  • Able to commit 2–5 hours/month to this relationship (all mentors and mentees)
