Presenters:
Quyen Wickham, MA, CP APMP, CAPM, has worked in bid and proposal management in higher education for over 15 years. He has a Master’s degree in Communication focusing on the Science of Team Science. Quyen currently works as Arizona State University’s first and only enterprise-level Capture Manager, moving the institution and research capacity into favored federal and foundation bid positioning. He previously spent four years as ASU’s Senior Proposal Manager, managing over $500M in extramural funding opportunities, and ten years at the University of Oklahoma, where he helped launch the Research Development Office. In addition, Quyen consults with emerging research institutions, advises on large research funding opportunities, and is frequently praised for his calm demeanor, attention to detail, and strong support of diversity and equity.
Heather Kirkpatrick, CP APMP, CAP APMP, is a Vice President of Business Development at SMA, and displays enthusiasm and strength with business development, capture and proposal management. With 25 years’ experience in the non-profit and corporate worlds, she represents SMA on large accounts, helping clients find solutions for the entire business lifecycle. She is certified with APMP Practitioner and Capture Practitioner credentials. An award-winning leader, APMP 2017 40 under 40, she is passionate about sharing stories, and finding resources for her colleagues and fellow professionals. She currently leads the APMP Western Chapter and has held many leadership roles since 2015.
Marie Rounsavell, CP APMP, began her career in proposals in 2007 as a technical writer for a staffing company and quickly moved on to positions in capture management and proposal leadership, and is now a Proposals Manager at InMoment. Marie has been active in the Western Chapter (and before that, the California Chapter) mentorship program since 2018 and a Western Region Conference volunteer since forever. Marie earned her foundation level certification in 2016 and achieved practitioner level in 2018. She received her bachelor’s degree in English and World Literature from Pitzer College.
Tobin Spratte, CP APMP, is a proposal and business development strategist for Haley & Aldrich, an environmental and geotechnical engineering firm. Prior to that, he was a proposal manager at Arizona State University. In both of these roles, he has had to bring together disparate, opinionated stakeholders and subject-matter experts to develop cohesive win strategies that speak to clients’ needs. He is also Vice Chair of the APMP Western Chapter and leads the West Coast Coffee Roast, a monthly, virtual roundtable for proposal professionals to share ideas and commiserate over common tribulations. Beyond his day job, Tobin pieces together his experiences, thoughts, and imagination to author novels that bring readers ever closer to truly understanding what it means to be human.
